[It's been a while since the zombie attack. After having died, Roxas has been nowhere to be found. Even now his living space has sat empty, and if anyone had attempted to call his phone they would have gotten a recording about the number not being in service.

Roxas hardly knows what to do with himself when he returns. The hallway is vaguely familiar to him at first, and there's a growing sense of needing to get to a particular door. He trots toward it slowly, stopping now and then to look in all directions, as if a zombie might pop out of the darkness.

He can't knock, so some persistent scratching will have to do.]

[It's a couple minutes later before anything happens, a bewildered Riku cracking open the door to peer outside. She's in her pajamas, and does a quick scan of the hall in front of her door before looking down.]

Oh.

[So many kitten cries come out of his mouth when he sees her, it probably sounds like there's three of him. Sorry for waking you up, Riku! Have an orange striped kitten running up to rub himself all over your legs.]

[Oh shit. Riku stares down at it for a second, then crouches down to pick it up with both hands.]

Well hey there. Where'd you come from?

[More kitten cries! Roxas squirms in her grip, not feeling very secure at the moment. There's a slim collar around his neck with a heart-shaped name tag, which should clear up.. most of the questions. Even if all that's on it is his name and a tiny cross etched into the metal.]

[She gets a hand under his butt and shifts him up so she can balance him against her chest. Now she can get her other hand up under his chin and distract him with scritches.]

[He immediately starts purring, closing his eyes and leaning into the scritches like this is the most amazing thing in the world and he has to absorb all of it. Even the kitten cries have stopped, he's enjoying this so much.]

[Thankfully kittens are easier to make happy than cats. She keeps it up for a few seconds, carefully easing his head up so she can look at his collar. That's... different. Wait for it.]

Oh, hell.

[He gives a merrrp in response to her voice, stretching his neck out blissfully.]

I mean-- uhh.

[Whoops. She's not quite sure what to do here, but steps back inside and eases the door closed with her foot, heading for the kitchen. Better test this.]

Roxas?

[Another merrp. That could either be in response to his name, or simply to the sound. If she stops scritching him, he's going to try to headbutt her fingers.]

[Nah. She's moving her fingertips to one ear for pettings.]

Meow twice if you can understand me, how's that?

[Looks like it was just a response to the sound, because he does it again. Then he's preoccupied with turning his head to lean into those fingers, trying to aim them at the base of his ear.]

[Damn. Well, she tries again, focusing on that spot so he'll be happy.]

Roxas?

[His mouth opens with the start of a sound, but what she's doing just feels so good. His eyes have rolled back from the feeling, thoroughly enjoying himself so much that she could be telling him he was the main ingredient in a stew and he'd still be purring.]

[Welp. She sighs and gives up, assuming he's lost to being a cat. About how old does he look? She can't just let him starve, but she's not sure where to get cat food right at this moment.]

[He looks to be 7 or 8 weeks old. Old enough that she won't have to worry about giving him milk. Most of his awareness has focused on Riku, leading him straight to her door by following her scent. Anything else he remembers seems to be a general, this is someone I know, this person is good, I don't need to be afraid.]

[...dammit, he's adorable. She frowns at him, because what did you do to turn yourself into a cat, you were a zombie, take a break. But then she's cuddling him up to her cheek as she heads toward the fridge.]

[At least he's back at all, right? Her cheek is not as enticing as her fingers had been. Her hair however... He jumps a little at the sound of the fridge opening, but he's quickly distracted with trying to bat and bite at her hair.]

Ow, hey. Knock it off.

[She gently eases him away from her, holding him at arm's length to look at him properly.]

[Roxas is going to start the tiny kitten cries again when she does, practically demanding she hold him closer. His fur is still more kitten-fluff than actual adult hair, and his tail pinwheels crazily as he squirms. Despite being a kitten, he doesn't seem any worse for wear. Even his legs are undamaged.]

[She glances him over, turning her hands to check, just in case, and then he's back against her chest, though out of reach of her hair. Unless he decides to climb up, which wouldn't surprise her at all. She's crouching down with him to look through the fridge. Sandwich meat?]

[He'd eat dog food if she let him. Not that it would have everything he needs, but beggars in the middle of the night don't get to choose. He starts to climb her shoulder, more intent on getting back to the dangling hair than he is on what she's doing.]

[Dog food seems like a bad idea. A little meat can't be any better, but it can't be any worse, either. She'll pick up some actual cat food in the morning, but for now this will have to do. Maybe he's not even hungry, she doesn't know. She grabs a pack of chicken and closes the fridge again, attempting to keep a good grip on Roxas while he moves and keep him away from her hair. The meat gets tossed on the counter and she goes to the cupboard to grab two small bowls, one of which is quickly filled with water from the sink.]

[He's hungry enough, he just doesn't realize what she has is food yet. When she won't let him at her hair, he eventually decides to flop against her and lick at the hand holding him.]

[Riku laughs a little, shutting off the water and taking the bowl. She's going to crouch down and then sit on the floor, moving Roxas to her lap and the bowl to the floor beside her. Good thing she has long arms so she can reach up and grab the pack of meat after.]
