[It's been a while since the zombie attack. After having died, Roxas has been nowhere to be found. Even now his living space has sat empty, and if anyone had attempted to call his phone they would have gotten a recording about the number not being in service.

Roxas hardly knows what to do with himself when he returns. The hallway is vaguely familiar to him at first, and there's a growing sense of needing to get to a particular door. He trots toward it slowly, stopping now and then to look in all directions, as if a zombie might pop out of the darkness.

He can't knock, so some persistent scratching will have to do.]

[It's a good way to wear him out. Doing it now means she won't have to worry much about him going for her toes when she's trying to sleep. Roxas dances back away from her hand, his fur puffing out a little to make himself look bigger than his foe. Feeling braver, he circles around to try to pounce from the side. He ends up much closer than before, barely touching her hand before dashing off again.]

[Sleep? What sleep? He ruined that with his door-scratching. Apparently she's not the only one he's woken up, because a minute later Serein's turning the corner around the counter and stopping at the entrance to the kitchen.]

[Roxas skids to a stop and freezes halfway to the dog. His fur had already started to stand up, but now he looks like a kitten-sized, orange dandelion puff with a pipe cleaner for a tail. Back arching, Roxas slowly starts his most intimidating growl.]

[Serein stops to consider him, head tilted, and just takes a seat on the kitchen floor to watch him. He is not at all threatening and she would like to play with him, but she is well-trained and patient with creatures smaller than herself. Riku's a little worried, but more about what Roxas will do than Serein.]

[When Serein doesn't move Roxas feels a little braver, and hops sideways toward her in a bid to be even more terrifying than he thinks he is. He gets close enough to make a swipe at her paw, then slips on the floor bouncing crazily until he can shoot past her to the safety of the couch. Or rather, the underside of the couch.]

[Serein watches him go and then looks to Riku, who's laughing again. She gets some ear scritches herself, and an affectionate "good girl" before Riku climbs to her feet. Serein reaches the living room first, flopping down in the middle of the rug and peering at the space of couch Roxas left to.]

[With Serein's nose, losing a kitten won't be much of a problem. Roxas lets out another little warning growl from under the couch, then wriggles his way down to the other end. He's still keeping an eye on her, but his attention is divided between the dog and what Riku's doing.]

[Riku's tossing the meat back on the counter, and giving Serein that one piece on the floor that Roxas wasn't too interested in. (Serein is understandably thrilled.)

Also Serein's gonna poke her nose up under that couch after. Hello friend.]

[There's a thump from under the couch. That nose is going to feel like it's been swatted a million times in the following second, because Roxas is doing his best to defend his hiding spot. Serein is huge and intimidating, but he isn't going to let that stop him.]

[Serein huffs a great big gust of air at him and scrambles away, huffing more once she's out of there and shaking her head. Riku snorts.]

[Roxas' head peeps out from under the couch just long enough for him to hiss, then disappears.

There's a scratching sound soon after, but it isn't coming from him.]

[Well Serein's not doing anything other than poking her paw under the couch, so unless someone upstairs suddenly grew a set of claws when she wasn't looking...

She'll check the door.]

[If one kitten was a surprise, how does Riku feel about two? As soon as the door opens there's a shot of brown darting inside to pounce on Serein from behind.]

[She jumps a little at the sight of a second one, but she can easily guess who this is just based on his fur color. Serein jumps too, looking happy and playful as she tries to twist around to get him.]

[Aside from the color, they're twins down to the last stripe. Sora even has a matching collar and name tag. He leaps into the air after Serein's tail as she turns, flailing wildly at it with every bounce.]

[Riku shuts the door before either of them can make an escape, and Serein turns several times before flopping down on the ground to paw and nose at Sora.]

[This one is peering out from under the couch, his full attention on the two in front of him. Sora's practically dancing in front of Serein, racing up to tap her face then dart back again. The third time it happens there's an orange streak racing across the room to crash into the other kitten, sending the both of them rolling.]

[Serein rolls and flops over onto her side to watch them, completely used to small speedy active things thanks to her not-so-recent-anymore litter. Riku's just trying to keep them away from her toes at this point, and quickly darts over to climb onto the couch.]

[The kittens look ecstatic. Roxas has forgotten all about Serein, too busy racing after Sora as they chase and pounce each other crazily. He may not have been much aware at all of what's happened to him before, but the sheer joy in their actions is sparked by something more than simply having a playmate.]

[Something definitely seems different about what they're doing. Riku pulls her feet up on the couch as well, folding them under her as she watches them go. It's pretty heart-warming.]

[Sora finally pounces Roxas up against the front of the couch, pinning him down. They're both breathing hard, then start licking at each other in the same moment. Cats don't normally purr while interacting with each other, but these two seem to be on full volume.]

[If she didn't think standing up would set them off again she'd go get her phone so she really could record this. But she'll settle for the memories, draping across the side of the couch so she can watch them, and maybe reach down and poke one of them in the side.

Nah. She's gonna go for a kitten bottom. Poke.]

[Sora's butt raises instinctively, then he rolls over to bat at Riku's hand. Roxas shakes himself and starts scaling the couch, preferring to have some distance between himself and the dog still. He's hungrier than he was before after burning off all that energy, and is going to loudly tell Riku all about it.

Sora echoes him a moment later, still flopped on his back with his paws up defensively.]

[She pokes a couple more times, batting or no batting, and uses her other hand to pick Roxas up and hold him up against her chest.]

What now?

[Roxas flops against her, nosing up under Riku's chin before complaining again. If he's close enough, she's going to feel him attempting to suckle on her earlobe.

Sora's too distracted by Riku's hand to give much fuss, twisting himself left and right to follow her fingers and bat at them crazily when they get close enough.]
