(no subject)

[Red appears to be his normal self, nothing off about him at all! He looks a bit uneasy as he heads down a hallway near the more populated areas, but other than that, everything's the same as always.

A few halls away, something vaguely resembling Red is shuffling along, head down. He looks emaciated, all pasty skin and bone, with tangled hair falling to his ears instead of his shoulders. He doesn't have a shirt on, just a pair of pants torn off at the knee, which gives off a full view of the complete mess he is. Thick, messily done stitches stretch over sluggishly bleeding incisions all over his front and back, and a hole in the crook of his arm is leaking something an acidic green.]

(ooc: I give you the aspect removed from Red: the experiments.)

[It's up to him, really. She just wants him... well not comfortable, nothing can make him comfortable, she thinks.]

Do I need to... know anything? Not touch anything?

I doubt you'll manage to fuck anything up.

[She'd have to be actively trying to hurt him in order to mess up, really.]

I'll do my best.

[She has some experience sewing up wounds. She's more worried about removing the stitches, this time around. Once everything's clean she motions for him to move wherever he wants to do this.]

[He moves slowly and shifts around until he's settled in a vaguely comfortable position that will still allow Riku access to everything clearly. It's a good thing he can't feel anything right now, seeing as he does have some wounds on his back as well.]

[She doesn't even know about those, and will be horrified when she finds out. As soon as he seems ready she takes in a deep breath and then gets to work. She's starting with the big Y-shape first, to get it over with. She doesn't want to do this.]

[The old stitches are done with twine that doesn't have any place being used for something like this, and pull at the skin when removed. He stares at the ceiling as she works, expressionless. It's a good thing he can't feel what she's doing.]

[She's being as gentle and careful as she can possibly be in this situation, but she really just wants to finish it up. She's afraid to see what his wound will look like with the stitches removed, and she wants to get it redone as fast as possible. She has another cloth to clean it up as she goes.]

You don't have to do this, you know.

[He's talking to the ceiling, still not looking at her.]

They won't be there anymore when this is over.

That's not the point. I don't know how long this spell will last, but they're here now.

[And she is not leaving him to just deal with them on his own. She knows if he really wanted to he could easily do it himself, but she's here now, so he doesn't have to.]

[He just hums in response, not having an argument. If she's going to insist on doing this, he may as well let her. It makes it easier in the long run.]

I don't know what you were expecting from me.

[Her tone isn't light enough, but it's meant to be teasing, and he'll probably get that.]

I'm not sure what I was either.

[There's the faintest hint of a smile when he says it, though. He doesn't really have the cocky front Red normally has, there's a resignation to him that doesn't really exist anymore in his normal self.]

[She smiles back at him, briefly. That's unsettling to see, honestly, because Red's so... not that. But she tries not to let it show, and just keeps removing stitches. She won't stop until she's completely done, and then she leans away to get proper equipment to sew it back up.]

[The injury looks even more gruesome without those stitches holding it quite so together. It was definitely made to get at organs, though it's thankfully not that fresh-looking that he's got anything visible in there. Just slightly too dark meat.]

[That's really unsettling, and Riku's incredibly glad she's getting kind of used to gore after knowing Red for so long, and being in the DR. She's noticeably hesitant to get started, but does manage to thread the needle and get started on the first stitch.]

[The stitching will hold just fine, though who knows if it'll last during this spell. He's still not looking at her, like that'll somehow help her keep her resolve.]

[She almost doesn't respond- what is she supposed to say to that? You're welcome? Don't worry about it? She waits until the first one is done, and moves onto the second.]

That was disgustingly sappy.

[What are you, Riku, a romance movie heroine? Jeez!!!]

Nah, not from me. You must be thinking of someone else.

[She means it, though. She would do this as many times as she had to, and not just because she loves him.]

[She's probably the only one, or at least he thinks so. He doesn't know why anyone else would want to.]

[A couple people would, because he is actually pretty likable once you get to know him, even if he's an ass sometimes. Or so Riku would say. As she works she feels compelled to talk. The silence kind of makes the situation worse.]

Where were you going?

Not sure. I was a little spaced out until you showed up.

[At least he doesn't sound as rough anymore, even if he's still talking pretty quietly.]

You seemed like it.

[He seemed dead, or on the brink of it. She's glad she was the one to find him and not someone who might have just... ignored him. Or Red, in whatever state he's in. She should call him.]

Not sure how long I'd have stayed like that.

[She's certainly free to! He's got his phone on him and everything.]

[She probably will, after she finishes stitching up the Y-shape, but before anything else.]
