(no subject)

[Red appears to be his normal self, nothing off about him at all! He looks a bit uneasy as he heads down a hallway near the more populated areas, but other than that, everything's the same as always.

A few halls away, something vaguely resembling Red is shuffling along, head down. He looks emaciated, all pasty skin and bone, with tangled hair falling to his ears instead of his shoulders. He doesn't have a shirt on, just a pair of pants torn off at the knee, which gives off a full view of the complete mess he is. Thick, messily done stitches stretch over sluggishly bleeding incisions all over his front and back, and a hole in the crook of his arm is leaking something an acidic green.]

(ooc: I give you the aspect removed from Red: the experiments.)

[Good call. He's still for a moment longer, then slowly unlocks his joints and moves toward her hesitantly, reaching for her hand with one of his own frail ones.]

[She waits for him to initiate the touch, then closes her fingers around his hand and places her other hand over his.]

Trust me.

[He doesn't pull away, which seems to be about as good as Riku's going to get from him. He grips her hand with a strength that doesn't seem to match how weak he looks, but doesn't seem ready to properly raise his head.]

[That's fine. He can hold on as tightly as he wants to and she won't do a thing about it. She wants to tell him to look at her, but instead she turns around and starts heading for the closest bathroom, pulling him along with her.]

[Despite the shuffling steps before, he doesn't seem to have any problem actually keeping up with her, whatever speed she sets on the way to the bathroom. Movement doesn't seem to cause his injuries to bleed any more than they already are, at least.]

[Good. She feels terrible about making him move, and she's having some unpleasant memories about the time she found his younger self. That makes her glance back, but she's still walking.]

Please tell me you have pain off.

[A hoarse noise that is probably a laugh escapes him. He doesn't answer properly either way, so she'll just have to hope he does.]

[That's a little upsetting, but Riku just turns around and drags him along with her to the nearest bathroom. As soon as they reach it she's opening cabinets, not letting go of his hand. She doesn't know if this is Red removed so something or something from Red. She wouldn't know what it was if so.]

[He's still quiet when they reach the bathroom, head still down. But he's looking at her more often than not now, mouth set less like he's in pain and more like he's not sure what to think of her.]

[She's pulling out all the supplies she needs with just one hand, like she's afraid he'll disappear or leave or refuse to let her treat his wounds if she lets go of him. Unless he stops her she'll get everything out and on the counter and ready. When she finds a bottle of painkillers she pauses, and turns to him to ask about it, but stops short at his expression.]

What?

[He licks his lips - his tongue is oddly dark - and starts to speak, though barely any noise comes out. Looking frustrated, he tries again until he's actually audible.]

I'd be okay without help. I'm making you uncomfortable.

[The look on her face is slightly disbelieving. She understands why he's saying that, but she wasn't expecting it, and she can't believe he would think she'd actually leave.]

Open wounds on someone I care about makes me uncomfortable. I know you'd be okay, Red. Let me fix them anyway.

[He just shoots her a bemused look and goes quiet again. He might as well just let her go to it.]

[What's with the face? Of course she's going to help him, it's Riku. She nods her head toward the counter.]

Sit down?

[He does so obediently, slouching before realizing that would just make things difficult. There's no sign that the movements hurt at all on his face, and thankfully the wounds don't seem to be getting any worse.]

[She'll let go of his hand now, but only because she has to, and then she's pulling down scissors and other things to remove the bad stitches, and antibiotics and bandages. Before anything she's picking up a cloth and taking hold of his arm. What is that stuff?]

[It doesn't smell like anything, but it's thick and doesn't move like blood. A closer look at where it's leaking out will reveal that his veins in the immediate area have the same tinge to them.]

[She's frowning hard at whatever that is, and turns his arm over a little to look at it better before she starts to clean it up. She's not asking what it is. She's not asking where any of these came from or what their purpose was. Just thinking about it makes her angry.]

[Good, because he wouldn't tell her even if she did ask. He doesn't move, though it continues to ooze slightly once it's all been wiped away.]

[She scowls at it, and immediately grabs the bandages to wrap his arm up. It's not dangerous to her, right? She's trying not to touch it, but her priority is getting him fixed up.]

Can you turn pain off?

[It's probably not harmful as long as she washes her hands fast enough! Um. Red lets out a hoarse noise that's probably a chuckle.]

I can't feel anything at all.

[That's comforting, and by that I mean now Riku looks even more unhappy with this situation. It's good that he can't feel the pain from all of this, but it's also... a bad sign.]

Who are you?

[He's quiet as he considers the question. At first it's almost like he didn't hear it at all, with the lack of reaction.]

The results of the good doctor's work, I think.

[She doesn't even have a real response for that. She stares at him for a long time, then simply finishes wrapping up his arm so she can move on to something else.]

Will it bother you if I redo those stitches?

[It only takes a minute or so before the bandages on his arm are starting to stain through with the slow-seeping green. He doesn't seem to notice.]
