[So a certain fox-eared Even stumbled into the hallway today looking nowhere near sickly or exhausted as he or his older self tend to. While appearing a little dazed, comparatively he likely seems quite abnormally bright eyed and bushy tailed. Hell, aside from his furry brown ears and his hair being tied back in a long braid, he probably seems a lot more like a normal Even. Especially wearing a crisp white lab coat with a large ID badge pinned to the chest and carrying a small pile of folders like he is.

Even does a double take almost as soon as he steps into the hall, almost dropping his folders. After a moment collecting himself and scanning his 'new' surroundings, he sighs rather defeatedly and shifts his folders to one hand to free the other to take out a hip flask for a long (and rather well needed) drink.]

[ooc: Even's been reset, it might be temporary, it might be permanent... haven't really decided yet. He's pulled from further back on his 'verse's timeline before he ever met 'his' Ienzo though, he's still a mess of issues, and substance abuse but not the tunnel-vision-obsessive stuck-at-psychological-breaking-point levels people who've met him in the DR before might have seen.]

[There's a Sora dozing on a bench not too far away, what looks to be a workbook of equations open beside him. There's little in the way of actual work done in it; instead the pages are covered in half-drawn doodles. Most notably for Even though, is a distinct lack of animal parts.]

[With the taste of alcohol fresh on his tongue it's a bit easier to pretend he's genuinely calm about all this. Even takes a deep breath, tucks his flask away and approaches Sora.

The apparent lack of ears does catch him off guard, but not nearly as much as the fact Sora basically does not smell anything like a person (at least, what Even recognises as one.)

Rather than blindly investigate, Even cautiously pokes him it the shoulder, mostly to check for consciousness but also chances of being attacked (just in case, y'know.)]

Mrrph...

[Sora stretches, arms up over his head before looking around sleepily to see what woke him up. When he sees Even, he's staring a little blankly.]

H'lo.

[Even immediately took a step back as Sora shifted.]

What are you?

I'm... Sora? I'm a boy.

[He's staring at Even for his ears and tail just as much as Even is staring at him for his lack of them.]

That wasn't what I asked. I can tell you're male, I want to know: a male what?

[~~What is manners?~~ Even's tail is sticking close to the ground, mostly twitching at the tip while his ears are staying still, all upright, alert and focused straight ahead.]

Uh, human? Are you always so strange?

Never heard of them before, I'll have to research them... Strange how?

[Being very much under socialised and not quite adept at faking it yet, he needs to ask.]

Just.. strange. You really don't know what I am?

Never seen or smelt anything like 'human,' never heard about them at school either.

His left ear takes a break from the more obviously alert position to scan the surroundings for potentially threatening background noise, while the right remains forward facing.]

[Sora seems fascinated by the small movement. He watches Even's ears avidly, then seems to notice the tail. Moving or not, that's interesting too. Then it seems to occur to him that he's been staring at this person in front of him, and he should probably say something.]

Uh. Hello.

...You've said that twice.

[Now Even isn't entirely informed on all the ins and outs of how conversations work, but he's fairly sure you only need to say hello once.]

Sorry, I forgot. I was looking at your ears.

...Where are yours?

[Right now Even's kind of expecting something like what lizards have tbh, since human ears aren't super obvious like the ones he's used to observing.]

[He's pointing at them, then turns his head a bit so Even can get a better look.]

[Even leans forward a little for a closer look.]

That is bizarre.

Is it? I thought everyone had them.
