And I'd rather play here with all the madmen. For I'm quite content they're all as sane as me
[[Through this partially(read as: mostly) open door there's just a touch of blood and gore.
In a surgery looking to have been fairly disused before now, having been put to use vivisecting a R.O.U.S. (Rodent of unusual size)
While all reasonably 'professional' looking, the tail hanging off the end of the operating table has attracted the interest of a small cat which seems to be getting ignored by the man investigating the beast's insides.
Which are probably holding his attention a little more than is healthy or normal.
...Even with the cat being a noisy little bugger.
Rather than hiding his most identifiable features, this time he's giving the stumpy remainder of his tail a chance to stretch while he works. While his ears do twitch toward sound, it's pretty much just reflex rather than any actual alertness. Which would have been fine if the door was closed like he intended, but that cat hardly just phased in through a wall, at least if those scratches on the door are anything to go by.]]

In a sense, he was right. While through the door is certainly a scene significantly more exciting than the hallway presently is, Axel isn't certain if he wants to follow the cat inside.
Although... if nothing horrid happened to it yet...
Curiosity gets the better of him, but he stops dead several steps into the room as he gets a better glimpse of its occupant. While he's no big fan of Vexen--]
What the hell happened to you? Experiment gone wrong?
[He certainly isn't going to get any closer until he's reasonably certain that this Vexen-thing isn't going to hurt him.]
1/2
2/2
[...and he'll toss down a little bit of meat for the kitty.]
no subject
You've got ears. And a tail.
[The Vexen he knew certainly did not have ears and a tail. Then again, the Vexen he knew was also a lot more dead than this one...]
What're you, some weird replica?
[--Nng, did the Vexen-thing just feed that cat a piece of something still alive? Axel's very much disgusted.]
no subject
[
There's a little effort in there to filter out the result of long term exposure to Xigbar.]Completely 'natural' creation here.
[He is totally pleased with himself for the disgusted reaction, thankfully the giant rat can't feel a damn thing.]
no subject
[Axel's natural ability to annoy the living daylights out of almost everything that moves kicks in. Still disgusted and decidedly avoiding looking at the rodent, with some self-preservation probably in mind - though he's decided he's relatively safe - he approaches the Vexen-thing and reaches for one of his ears. Gotta pull on it to be sure they're real, after all, and not some sort of joke.]

among other reasonscauses Even have a higher threshold for actual annoyance... that and it seems everyone wants to touch the ears at one point or another.]Those are definitely attached.
no subject
Just for the sake of it, though, he inspects the ears, then tugs on the other one as well. Yep, definitely attached.
After a moment of just hovering over Even's shoulder, Axel does look down at the rodent. And, hey, he's probably seen worse in his time... It's not so bad if he doesn't really think too hard about it.]
So what are you doing to that rat, cat-boy?
no subject
Keeping my hands occupied and out of things people might actually miss.
[
Read 'things' as: people and pets. It's only really horrible when the intent behind all of it is considered, but given his appearance he can probably pass it off as a slightly more reasonable causes.]Also, not a cat.
no subject
[He considers the difference between Even and the cat in the room, glancing between them once or twice.]
Close enough.
no subject
[And he'll let the cat thing slide either because of it being a long term nickname or because the whole horribly mutilating an animal has him in a relative 'zen space.']
no subject
[Looking at the rodent is a lot like watching a train collision occur: fascinating, yet utterly revolting.]
no subject
[Going to cover the rat up for now so it doesn't dry out too much or, y'know, die while he's not actively harming it.]
no subject
And I've seen some pretty screwed up stuff with the Organization too. Doesn't change the fact that they're odd hobbies.
ffff, was drawing a blaaaaank
It generally helps if I try not to make claims to being normal.
's okay. It happens.
[He hops up to sit on the table, then glances down at the cat.]
So, your kitty?
no subject
It's surprising what people will believe when I'm not in the middle of taking apart furry things.
no subject
Surprise me. I can't imagine it's anything too normal. What have they believed?
no subject
That I'm human, that I'm 'normal,' that I'm a 'good father,' that I'm not completely drugged to the gills in order to maintain 'good behaviour.'
[Yes, he mimed all the inverted commas.]
why did this take me long enough sob
Two cats. She whistled towards his general direction in hopes either of them would go to her -- ]
no subject
The actual feline has a 'lol, wut- I'm not a dog' expression going for it.]
no subject
That smells fresh! What's the occasion?
no subject
And cluttered.
[/hoping not to have to elaborate further on the euphemism.]

The noise in my head is keeping me from concentrating long enough to adjust it or sort it from my thoughts properly.
no subject
[ Peeking over to the rat now -- ]
no subject
[Sure, he's wearing gloves, but that doesn't mean he can't still appreciate tangling his fingers in the animal's internal organs.]
no subject
[ Of course she's curious, warping in a pair of disposable gloves so she can poke the rat properly. ]
no subject
And what do we have here?
no subject
[Going to continue this taking it apart slowly business.]
no subject
no subject
[/Not being serious.]
no subject
[He might be playing along, yes.]
no subject
[Tosses a bit to the kitty to make it shut up.]

[Shhh, stop that- now he's going to get stuck on exactly what he was trying not to think about. Though by the tone of his voice he's certainly not going to be objecting.]

[/abandoning sharp objects to tangle his fingers in squishy rat guts.]
So a suitable substitute was found.

Of course this whole curbing undesirable behaviour thing is a totally losing battle whiles he's still indulging to any extent.]no subject
oh hell, I need sleep I think since I can't even tell if this makes a lick of sense
The shape probably matters more than the intellectual capacity really, though still ideally non-humanoid in appearance or intelligence.
I'd still probably prefer it, but I'd like to try not letting my psychological failings get in the way of avoiding provoking the local hero population among other reasons.
