It helps if you have a guideline. [He lightly sketches lines on the circle where the eyes, nose and mouth will go.] If you do this, you can place the features where you want to without as much of a problem. As long as you make your lines light enough you can erase them when your finished.

[It looked really nice in the book he read, but his own attempts are shabby at best. Even so, he does manage to do exactly as he said and keep the eyes even, which was the entire point.]
